9 | Blast from the past - We look back five years.

We thought you might enjoy revisiting some of the stories we did in our first year of publishing. So, from five years ago, here are a few updates. >>

A life full of little girls and big dreams:
When last we visited in 2004, my husband, Dave, and I were in the process of remodeling and restoring our 112-year-old dream home in Little Falls at 404 Third Street. At the time I was pregnant with our first child, Ellis Catherine, who was born in July of 2004 — in the midst of the chaos of remodeling. >>

Artist paints houses as well as creations on canvas
I am very excited to have the opportunity to share with Minnesota Moments readers what I have been up to since being featured in the May/June 2004 edition. Since then, I bought a house, graduated from college, and am starting to experience the real world. I enjoyed learning about art in college and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Painting and Drawing from St. Cloud State University. >> View Slide Show

At peace in the trenches - MEMORIES, ON THIS 150-year-old observance of Memorial Day, do indeed take one back in time. Or, in my case, in-between times, beyond deadly armed conflict and wholesale carnage, >>

In memory of... JOHNNY DUBOIS - MY HERO WAS PICKED FOR ME. His name was Johnny DuBois, the uncle who died several years before I was born. My dad loved him so much that he named me after him. It’s a powerful thing to share somebody’s name. For Johnny, it was the highest honor you can give someone who died. For me, it was an instant hero. Johnny served in World War II under Gen. George Patton. >>

Tribute to a Korean War Veteran - He can still hear the rattle of the tin pails as the Korean children beg for food scraps from the young American soldiers. >>
